I have a beautiful new camera but all of our lenses are kicking the can, so I am hoping to have my remaining December Daily pages posted ASAP and then start on sharing my Project Life.
Yes... I realise that I am 12 days late but I've enjoyed some time away from the blog taking some holiday time with my family. You know what they say... taking a holiday with kids is the same stuff as usual but in a different location, yes? That was partly the case for us, but it was also wonderful to spend some more time together as a family, get some jobs done around the house and also have nearly a week with my parents at the beach. The photos above show a snapshot of our time away for the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015. It was great to see some friends at the beach, to get Tilly her first haircut and then to celebrate both Toby and her birthdays. We like to cram everyone's birthdays in in our family! ;)

2014... You've thrown some rotten curve balls along the way but you've also blessed us with a son and many other highs. Cheers to 2015! We're having a quiet night now after a lovely BBQ dinner with some friends. Enjoy your night however you choose to celebrate and see you next year! Phew! December is racing by and I've decided to take a night or two off of December Daily to play catch up on other things around the place. Because I print my photos away from home it's been a bit of a rush to get to the shop each day so today I'm cutting myself some slack. It's our Street Party tonight and we had our final playgroup yesterday and tomorrow is a busy day as well. Things are really starting to wind up... and 100km/hr!
Above is a photo that I took 3 nights ago when we were down by the beach for our mini holiday. It was such a glorious view. The kids were asleep and Toby and my mother in law were happily sitting at home so I took the chance to 'escape' and have a little quiet time to myself with my new camera. I think that I'm going to have to print it and hang it somewhere at home! I hope that you all have a good night. I'll be back tomorrow or the next day with the next few days of December Daily! xo When you're a girl growing up, there are many interests that are traditionally 'girly'. Dance, make up, fashion, celebrities. I skipped all of these (except for that Brad and Keanu thing I had going on for a while) but one that I held onto was horses. I was a horsey girl and in all honesty, I'm probably still a horsey (grown up) girl now.
I longed for a horse growing up. I bought horse magazines and books. I spent summers on trail rides. I drew horses and dreamt of what I'd name my future horses (Pippa and Dartanyon!).I had jodhpurs, boots and my own helmet. I'd beg my parents for a horse and would always be told, "Marry a farmer!" Instead, I married an economist, which although a good decision (I love you Tobes!) it reduced the likelihood of a horse ever joining our family. Horses are known money suckers and take time too. So you can only imagine my delight when we discovered a pony living closeby. One day as we drove past, the owner was out the front with this pony and so the kids and I stopped to say hello. We had a pat and got talking. I offered to help if it was needed in tending the animals or her block and I couldn't believe it when she asked if I'd walk the pony. 'Free reign' so to speak. We learned where everything was kept and had the go ahead to play whenever we wanted. We would time our 'Dolly walks' around Sam's naps, wearing him in the ergo so he'd sleep as we wandered to a park with a pony in lead. Oh my goodness. The looks you get when pony walking in suburbia are hilarious! Today, Tilly and I left Sam and Toby at home to walk Dolly together. Tilly has become so comfortable with Dolly now, sharing the leadrope with me, clucking 'come on Doll' or 'walk on' as we stroll. She loves giving her pats and giggles when Dolly braes and breathes out. Today Dolly was served at a park shop. She's a tolerant partner! Dolly is now used to us and I was chuffed today as she stood still to be caught and snuggled in to me when at the park. Taking our four legged friend for walks is the next best thing to owning our own pony... Now to get Tilly used to riding her. My current camera and I have been together for many years now. It was bought in 2006 when I went on a trip with some friends and since then it has long exceeded the life span of it's shutter. Weddings, babies, everyday life, selfies, nature, friends, strangers, travel, it's all been captured on this baby! I'd be lying if I said I was devastated to see this error come up the other day. She still works, temperamentally, but it looks like it's time to start researching for a new camera! Yippee! |
