Playdough is one of those wonderful activities which allow kids to use their imagination and to create. It's also sensory and appeals to those kids who learn by and enjoy using their hands. At our house at the moment, playdough is making a comeback after spending some time in the box. :)
Late in my pregnancy with Sam, I started to get 'nesty' and to create activities which would keep Tilly entertained as I breastfed and took care of the new baby. Playdough mats were something I saw online and I decided to make my own.
This can be done very easily. I simply drew what I wanted, wrote simple prompt notes (in case someone else was doing these with her and had no idea) and later laminated them. I also bound them with rings to keep everything together.

At 2.5years old, Tilly is now really enjoying using these prompts for a different kind of playdough play. Here is what she got up to yesterday.
