I am using their kit as a foundation for my album this year. Read more about that in my blogpost here.
I'm linking up with Ali Edwards, the brains behind December Daily too.
The Story of Today
A somewhat recent Christmas tradition for our family is attending Road to Bethlehem. Road to Bethlehem is an reenacted version of the story of Christmas. You walk through a range of sets and scenes amongst people in costume acting as they would have back in the day as people returning to Bethlehem for the census. Along the way, actors share the Christmas story, including gossiping women in the street about an unwed Mary who is rumoured to be pregnant. The presentation is put together by volunteers and is free to attend. There are camels, sheep, a donkey and other animals around (including 'our' Dolly) to make things feel a little more genuine.
We attended with Tilly last year, but this year she really understood and as we approached the end she was asking, "Has Mary had the baby Jesus out of her tummy? Are we going to see the baby Jesus now?" You are invited by the innkeeper to head toward their stable to see the new child and are greeted by Mary and Joseph with a sleeping (real) baby, before a choir of angels sings behind them. It was a really lovely night, shared with friends.
There were also some free craft activities that Tilly had a go at.
