Rather than break it down day by day, I thought that I would just post my favourite photos from Thursday to Sunday here.

It's now late Sunday night here which means that the collecting for WITL is officially over. Now comes the part where I upload to dropbox so that I can create a photobook with it all! We'll see how long that takes. ;) Rather than break it down day by day, I thought that I would just post my favourite photos from Thursday to Sunday here. If you're still going with your documenting, enjoy! I have loved capturing photos of my family like I do for so many other families. Once more, some of these photos are some new favourites.

This morning the kids and I ventured to the zoo with some friends of ours. I met Kelly through the Project Life Australia Facebook group and we have become real-life friends! Tilly and her youngest, W are a similar age and get along well, so it works when we all get together! It was fun to break our Wednesday routine (sorry playgroup!) with a trip out. Faves from today...
Day 2 and I am loving this process. It is 10:16pm and my youngest has only JUST gone to sleep so today will be only pics. These are from my real camera. A few from my phone are still there. :)
If I can, I will be posting some of my favourite photos from the day here each night.
Something that I have liked about my approach so far this year is to not try to take in every little portion of the day, but rather to capture things that I can tell stories about that are common to us now. Monday was... a quiet morning at home cleaning and the kids helping and playing so well together, taking Tilly to kinder in the downpour, a planned GP visit for me, more play after kinder before an 'in-front-of-the-TV-kid-dinner', bath, late Toby home, sleepy drive for Sam, omelette dinner for Toby and pimped-porridge' for me. Lots of stolen moments in front of the computer screen too as me Beck Holder Photography website update post went up. Here are some of today's favourites... Hello... do you remember me? Well done if you've found me here. It's been pretty quiet over here!
I have been filling my days with the kids and our home. Tilly is in kinder this year and Sam is 2. My photography business has been growing and I have also returned to work as a primary teacher one day a week, teaching Art! All of this has left little room for my other passion of memory keeping, particularly Project Life. The passion IS there though and I continue to chip off bits and pieces as I can. My struggle is getting to the editing of my personal photos on the computer and then getting the photos printed in store. It was wonderful to see Becky Higgins again a few weeks back and to be reminded that there are seasons in life and that it will be there when I can pick it up properly again. With this in mind, and with some thoughts about the Project Life App, I have decided to attempt to document a week in our life starting tomorrow. My plan has grown and changed somewhat, but the guts of it is this...
Those are my rough plans thus far. You may see me again this week, or you may not. ;) If you are taking part in WITL, I wish you all the best and a happy time collecting memories of your life right now. x Wednesdays are for chrio appointments, for playgroup and for relaxed 'no plans' afternoons.
This week we had Sam's 18month check up at the nurse. He's been growing! We had a special treat- food court lunch then came home to make the most of some quiet time as Sam slept for some 'girl time'. We made playdough and played a game that was mine when I was a little girl (on Tilly's request). After little mate was up and cheery, we went for a walk to do the school run and we had a play with the neighbours in the late afternoon. Cleaning up throughout the day and lots of funny anecdotes which will be included in my album. Tuesday at our house means art class then usually having a play with a friend. We have an arrangement where we swap houses each week and then meet up later in the afternoon when the younger ones wake for a cuppa and a grown up chat. It's such a great arrangement because it means that both mums get some time out- our girls play so well together that it usually gives us a break!
Sam woke too early again this morning. I asked Toby to come and take him and Tilly came in to my bed and had a further 30mins sleep in with me. I'm feeling tired! This week we had a visit to the art studio rather than a lesson which we still enjoyed. It was our turn to have our friend over today. 'Frozen' was a game that featured prominently. Even though my Tilly has only seen the movie once in entirety, she is 'into it' and loves the songs. Plenty of dress ups and some painting together too. My friend from high school days visited when Sam slept so we got to catch up properly too with the girls entertaining themselves. I, like many others have been spending this week documenting my every day with the project, Week in the Life by Ali Edwards. If you're new to this concept check out Ali's video here for more information.
I will put together my album at a later stage, but for now I have been snapping lots of photos and taking notes on paper (using random scraps and the templates that Ali has available for free) or on the iphone (notes, sms's to myself). I am LOVING using my SLR so much this week and already know that I have captured some new favourite photos. The favourites are not always the 'best' photos- they may be out of focus or grainy, but they are moments captured that evoke emotion and stir memories and stories for me. I can't wait to get the stories out! Below are some of my favourite snaps from Monday. The process of selecting photos to share here is helping me to choose the ones that will feature in my album. I enjoy looking at how others capture the everyday moments and I hope that I might be able to inspire someone else too! Please leave a comment if you get a new idea. :) |
